Your child’s primary care physician has asked Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota experienced team of pediatric hospitalists to take care of your child during his or her hospital stay. Our hospitalists work closely with your primary care physician to ensure the best possible care for your child from admission to discharge and follow-up.
|
|
What do hospitalists do?
At Children’s, the hospitalists will direct whatever medical care is needed during your child’s stay. Their goal is to provide the safest, most effective care possible.
The hospitalists may order lab tests and X-rays, consult with specialists, recommend physical or occupational therapy, and help prepare you and
your child to go home.
|
Keeping your child's doctor informed
As partners in your child’s care, the hospitalists will call your doctor when your child is admitted to discuss the plan of care. They will fax daily progress notes and a discharge summary and plan when your child is ready to go home.
|
Will I be able to see my doctor in the hospital?
It will depend on your doctor’s availability and schedule. However, the hospitalist will keep your doctor updated on the status of your child
on a daily basis.
|
How to contact the hospitalist
Talk with your child’s nurse, or any member of the health care team, to
talk with the hospitalist. They will visit your child everyday and more often when needed.
|
| |
The pediatric hospitalist program is currently available at Children's - Minneapolis.
|
The hospitalists will introduce themselves when they enter your child's room. Like every staff member at Children's, they
will wear a photo ID badge.
