Join Our Team!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Children’s. The majority of our volunteer opportunities are during daytime hours (9 a.m.-3 p.m.), Monday through Friday. Our evening and weekend volunteer shifts are extremely limited. If you are not currently available during these hours, please feel free to check back with us in the future, as our openings may have changed.

Volunteers and staff share a common objective of providing the finest care for our patients and their families. Your generous donation of time and talent will help the children and families in our care. Together, we have earned our hospital the recognition of being one of the finest health care providers in the Upper Midwest. Last year, we had more than 20,000 family/volunteer interactions. Read more about our successes in 2009 in our annual report.

What do Volunteers Do?

We have a variety of opportunities for volunteers on our Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses.

Volunteers at Children’s assist in more than 30 departments helping in both support and patient care areas.

In support positions, our volunteers answer phones, greet and escort families, run errands, and provide clerical and administrative assistance.

In patient care positions, volunteers work directly with children, providing companionship to hospitalized children and their siblings. In these positions, our volunteers help ease the fear and anxiety that patients, siblings, and families feel as the result of being hospitalized, having a sibling who is hospitalized, or having a child who is hospitalized. These activities include rocking and holding infants, playing games, arts and crafts projects, watching movies, playing video games, reading stories, giving parents and families breaks, and pulling children in wagons.

Contact us if you have questions.
