Introduction
The following booklet is a compilation of surveys completed during the first part of 2007.
Each Children’s Advocacy Centers in the Midwest Region was contacted, and most responded and participated in
an email survey from the Outreach Coordinator for the Midwest Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (MRCAC).
You will find there is some information that may at first glance appear incomplete. As you know, the
development of a Children’s Advocacy Center is a process and thus, the information is a reflection of
that process at the time of the survey. Information from these surveys is accurate at the time of the
survey and may not reflect current practice and should be viewed as a snap shot of the programs that participated.
As you know, the MRCAC has been part of Children’s Hospitals and Clinics in St. Paul, Minnesota since 1999.
At that time there were 73 programs in the Midwest. Currently, there are a total of 167 programs!
The mission of the MRCAC is to provide training and technical assistance for professionals and communities working
to enhance their community response to child abuse.
This project was supported by Grant 2006-CI-FX-K002 Awarded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. Points of view in this document are those
of the author and do not necessarily represent the official position or policies of the U.S. Department of Justice.
We hope that you will find this resource both interesting as well as useful. We would like to take this opportunity
to thank you for your cooperation and willingness to share your information to benefit all of us within the Midwest
region.
