Note: Effective May 2, 2007 Children's Laboratory will no longer offer the qualitative Allergy screening panels. Scientific evidence supports the clinical utility of quantitative Allergen Specific IgE tests in the diagnosis of childhood allergy.

Orders for RAST are no longer available. Use the Allergen Care set (Cerner only) or search by allergen name in Misys to select individual allergens for ordering.

Test Includes:

IgE antibody level specific to the requested allergen or screening panel.

Logistics

Test Indications:

Seemingly minor childhood conditions may be early warning signs of allergy. Diaper rash, eczema, diarrhea, colic, rhinitis and recurrent ear infections may be symptoms of childhood allergy. Allergen IgE testing is a way to test/screen for causative agents.

1 – 3 days, set up daily, Monday – Friday.

Special Instructions:

Allergens are available as individual orderables specific to one allergen. Children’s also offers two panels tailored to children based on positive allergy trends in the pediatric population in the midwest region. There are many additional allergens available from the manufacturer beyond what you will find on our Allergen IgE Orderables List. If you have a need to test against a specific allergen not included on this list, please contact the lab and we will check on availability and obtain it if possible

ImmunoCAP allergen-specific IgE assay is a fluoroenzyme-immunoassay (FEIA), built on a classic sandwich technique.
