Useful in the evaluation of familial thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis, myocardial infarction, and in risk of post-operative thrombosis.

Daily, 24 hours

Turnaround Time:

2 - 7 days, test performed at reference lab once a week

Special Instructions:

Must arrive at reference lab with in 24 hours. Deliver immediately to the laboratory.

Whole Blood

Container:

Light Blue top (Buffered Na Citrate 3.2%) tube

Draw Volume:

4.5 mL blood in a 5 mL tube (Minimum: 2.7 mL in a 3 mL tube)

Processed Volume:

Specimen will be processed by reference lab facility.

Collection:

A clean venipuncture is essential.Do Not use the first 2 mL’s of blood collected.

Patient’s with hematocrit levels >55% must have a special tube made to adjust for the hematocrit; contact laboratory for special tube.

Mix thoroughly by gentle inversion.

Special Processing:

Lab Staff: Do Not centrifuge. Send in original Vacutainer® tube.

Improper tube, Clotted sample, Underfilled tubes, Overfilled tubes, Specimen over 24 hours old, Mislabeled or unlabeled specimens
