A standard chromosome study is performed on specimens suspected of having gross chromosome changes such as trisomy of chromosome 21 or mosaicism.

Lab Staff: Use ANW request form B. Call (612-863-454, Cytogenetics MOB-402) prior to sending specimen or to request a pick-up.
Include physician’s name and phone number.
Inform if specimen is to run stat. If the specimen is stat and on a newborn, the specimen needs to be delivered ASAP and will be set up immediately. (Note: No one staffs ANW cyotgenetics from 7pm – 11pm but specimens should be delivered any way and the specimen will be set up when the night staff arrives.)
Diagnosis and genetic indications are required for testing.
