Elevated concentrations of IgG antibodies to Aspergillus fumigatis are consistent with the diagnosis of aspergillosis, either invasive disease or Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. The levels of antibodies were often markedly elevated (>10 times the upper limit of normal), and there was no difference in subgroups of patients with Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis and cavitary disease with Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis.

IgG antibodies to Aspergillus fumigatus are detectable in sera from healthy individuals, and the presence of antibodies is not sufficient to establish the diagnosis of aspergillosis.
The levels of antibodies often decrease following successful treatment; but elevated levels may persist for long periods. The measurement of IgG antibodies to Aspergillus fumigatis should not be relied upon exclusively to establish the diagnosis of aspergillosis.
