HCV RIBA; Hepatitis C Confirmation; Anti-HCV Confirmation
CPT Codes:
86804 – Hepatitis C antibody, confirmatory test
Test Includes:
This test is a supplemental test for positive HCV antibody chemiluminescence immunoassay (CIA) result. It will be reported as positive, negative or indeterminate. If the patient has tested positive elsewhere by another screening method, this test can be ordered individually as the confirmatory test.

Logistics
Test Indications:
Intended for use as an additional, more specific test on human serum or plasma specimens found to be repeatedly reactive using a licensed anti-HCV screening procedure, such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Possible confirmatory tests include direct detection of HCV RNA by the reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), which is the most sensitive and specific technique available, and recombinant immunoblot assay (RIBA), which is a supplemental test for HCV antibodies.
