Lab Staff: Mix entire collection well. Measure entire volume and record. Remove a 10 mL urine aliquot from the 24 hour collection and put into a plastic 13 mL urine tube. This container should have no metal caps or inserts. The specimen should be refrigerated within 4 hours of completion. Ship the specimen at refrigerated temperatures. Forward promptly.

Limitations:
|
High concentrations of gadolinium and iodine are known to interfere with most metal tests. If gadolinium or iodine-containing contrast media has been administered, a specimen cannot be collected for 96 hours.
