Research and Innovation in the Hematology/Oncology Program

At the heart of delivering next-generation care is Children’s commitment to generating and applying new knowledge. This includes:

Research and publication

At Children’s, our priority is research that can result in clinical benefits for children and teens. There are more than 100 actively enrolling research studies in the hematology/oncology program and the majority of hematology/oncology patients are enrolled in one or more clinical trials. You can search clinical trials underway at Children’s or recent peer-reviewed articles by Children’s providers.

Research cooperatives

Research cooperatives allow patients to enroll in clinical trials being performed around the U.S. and allow the Children’s team instant access to information about what’s working during clinical trials, so protocols can be constantly perfected.

Children’s is one of the most active cooperative participants in the nation both in the number of patients enrolled in clinical trials and in rapid deployment of new information shared through the cooperative. Research cooperatives that Children’s belongs to include:

Children’s Oncology Group
International Pleuropulmonary Blastoma Registry, cofounded by Children’s
Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia (TACL) Consortium

Innovations in care

Children’s team is committed to constantly evolving hematology/oncology care in pursuit of better outcomes for your child. Innovations in the hematology/oncology program include:

3 Tesla MRI
Intra-operative MRI
Minimally invasive surgery
Nitrous oxide administration for pain
Pain management team
