Application Process, Forms, and Timeline

We are no longer accepting applications for the Summer 2009 Program.

Qualifications include:

  • Graduating from an accredited nursing program in 2009
  • Successful completion of the MN nursing boards resulting in a MN RN license prior to the start of the program
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Meet health requirements for hospital employment
  • An interest in working with children and families

Application forms:
To apply for the RN Residency Program at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, complete steps 1-6 listed below. It is the responsibility of the applicant that all of these materials are received by the February 10, 2009 deadline. The selection team will not review incomplete applications.

1. Go to www.childrensmn.org to complete an online application (you will be required to create an online profile if you do not already have one)

o Select Employment Opportunities

o Select Prospective Employee

o Under “Select Job Families” choose Nursing

o Select Search

o Choose RN Residency Program

o Select Apply Now to complete and submit the application

2. RN Residency Information Form (print and complete)

3. Two Reference Request RN Residency Candidate forms (print and complete by most recent school clinical faculty members)

4. Resume

5. Official sealed school transcript (including grades from fall 2008)

6. Two paragraphs:

1. Describe what professional nursing practice means to you

2. Explain what influenced your decision to apply at Children’s

Application timeline:

  • Feb. 10, 2009 – applications due
  • March 1, 2009 – candidates selected for interviews
  • Interviews during March 2009
  • Resident position offered late March or early April 2009
  • Program starts in July 2009
