Meeting Minutes
August 2, 2005
Present: Kathy Beasly, Sue Tesdahl, Marge Yaroslaski, Paula Condol, Gene Klein, Monica Maurer, Brenda Nelson, Jane Braun, Kim Martinez, Anne Cherek

Agenda:
- Kim spoke about the chapter grants that will be awarded to each chapter for training needs such as: MDT training, Advanced Management Leadership, and Bootcamp. The grants would be in the amount of $5,000 per chapter. These funds are budgeted pending MRCAC’s grant renewal. Kim stated that she will send out more details on how to apply for these chapter grants when and if the Regional grant is confirmed. Kim also announced that she is beginning her annual update calls to all the CAC’s in the region this week as well.
- Kim reported that the salary survey’s that were compiled earlier in the year were completed and sent out to the CAC’s in the Midwest region this week.
- Anne reported that the domain transfer of the regional website is complete and the new website is up and running. The web address remains the same www.mrcac.org. Anne asked each chapter to visit the website and review their respective state CAC’s contact information and email her with any edits.
State Updates
Illinois:
Kathy reported that they wrote and applied for a grant from the Attorney General’s office; they applied to receive $30,000/year to hire someone to continually work on various legislative efforts and another $10,000 in grant funds to support Finding Words trainings.
Iowa:
Sue reported that while they received monies from the Iowa Department of Public Health in the amount of $1million which took effect July 1, 2005, it has yet to be dispersed. Sue stated that each CAC will receive approximately $200,000. The chapter is also developing an informational video about the CAC movement, funders, politicians, etc. Each center will have a copy of the video once it is complete. A state chapter logo is currently being established as well.
Kansas:
Marge reported that she is resigning from her position as State Chapter President and from her position at the CAC, to pursue a teaching position at a local college. Marge stated that she is unsure of who the new state chapter president will be, but asked for continued chapter support from the regional.
North Dakota:
Paula reports that they are currently in the process of installing and learning how to use NCAtrak as their official database program.
Nebraska:
Gene reports that by the end of 2005, all CAC’s in the NE state chapter will be accredited and a new center opened in North Platte. The state legislature allocated $400,000 for the state’s CAC’s. Each CAC will be given funds that are appropriate for their population service area. Gene also reports that the state chapter will be hosting its first fall conference at the end of August. The chapter partnered with Prevent Child Abuse Nebraska to hold the event. The chapter is also holding a retreat to discuss strategic planning, state growth, state/chapter needs, etc, which will coincide with the conference.
South Dakota:
Monica reported that all state CAC directors met and discussed grant planning, NCAtrak, state logo and informational brochure. Monica also reported that staff from Child’s Voice will be attending the National Drug and Endangered Children conference in October.
Wisconsin:
Brenda reported that the state chapter will be meeting in LaCrosse in August with Betsy Goulet facilitating issues pertaining to strategic planning. Brenda also stated that the chapter continues to work on bylaws, and they are working with the Department of Justice to host a statewide summit to be held this fall.
