State Updates:
Indiana: Jan reported the next Chapter meeting is in mid October. No further updates.
Missouri: Carolyn reported having a state leadership conference a week ago, facilitated by Mike Johnson and Jamie Caperton. It reportedly went well. The chapter will be restructuring their Board due to their new 501c3 status. Most likely a Program Board and Director’s Board will be established.
North Dakota: Paula reported that the chapter is preparing for two conferences and a prevention summit, both taking place in early 2006, one of them being held the beginning of April.
Nebraska: Gene reported that the CAC’s, and their directors, have been asked to get involved in a Citizen Review Panel to give feedback in regards to their state child protection system; a requirement for federal funding for the state. The chapter has also been involved with the Governor’s Commission board, and the most recent meeting discussed the topic of Meth and it’s relation to child safety issues. The chapter has been asked to “give a vision” on how CAC’s can play a role in these types of child protection issues. The chapter is also gearing up for their next legislation session this fall.
Ohio: Ben reported the final details are being completed for Forensic Interviewer training in Toledo, OH.
ONCAC’s annual meeting is scheduled to be held Nov 7th. Ohio currently has 9 developing programs, and 2 centers just completed their first site visits as accredited members of NCA with one more to follow.
South Dakota: Monica reported that the chapter is scheduling a retreat in early spring and will be having a state conference April 5-7 with Penny Grant as a keynote speaker. Monica also reported that Child’s Voice just had a site review and it went well.
Respectfully Submitted,
Anne Cherek
