(Group 1) Chapter Membership

Who Belongs? Who are your members?

Min: Assoc/Accr./Dev members-

definition of developing: some MDT representation

Best: Assoc/Accred NCA members

o Devel: consistent task force

NCA should seek chapter input when considering status

Voting

Min: any consistent, designated rep from an agency

Best: Assoc/Accred. only 1 vote per agency- in good standing

Categories of membership and how defined

Min: have a definition

Best: Time standard- show progress to move up in membership- 2 year time frame for each level

Dues

Min: have them

Best: all levels pay dues/ tiered system on amount based on program operating budgets

Reporting requirements

Min: #’s reflecting reports to state chapter

Best: consistency of what’s being reported

Part 1:

What’s Working?

- funding for chapter coordinator = motivation from chapter

- membership active involvement with other members

What’s Not?

- developing centers that are unknown

- centers where problems exist- trickling down throughout state

- confusion of what to expect from state chapter

Part 2:

Recommendations:

- relationship exist btw chapters (designated person) and NCA re: recognition of developing programs – Notification of staff changes for efficient information exchange

- chapter input in accreditation process (reference)

- bootcamp required for accreditation

- new director training

- Fed $$
