Advisory Board

Meeting Minutes

June 6, 2006

Present: Mark Zimmerer, Ben Murray, Monica Maurer, Jan Lutz, Paula Condol, Carolyn Green, Mark Parr, Sue Tesdahl, Kathleen Inwood, Amy Russell, Jane Braun, Kim Martinez, Anne Cherek

Date of Next Call: July 18th, 11 am CST

Agenda:

- Kim reported that she is in the process of calling all the CAC’s in the region. The purpose of these calls is to obtain center updates and offering training and technical assistance should a center need it, as well as financial opportunities.

- Kim also stated that she is sending Chapters the expense form for Chapter grants. These forms must show how the Chapter will spend the $5,000 grant. The deadline for these forms is JULY 31, 2006.

- Jane asked each state if they received [via email] their state maps showing their CAC’s and Jane’s power point she presented at Leadership. Jane realized that not everyone could attend Leadership so she wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of the information that was given out to participants.

On Hill Day, (during Leadership) Senate rep Dennis Moore (KS) and Legal Assistant Lea Steve, were able to meet with Jane and others. They were wonderful to meet with and spent a significant amount of time with everyone, learning about CAC’s and the movement. Also, Minority Council member Ameer Faruk Gopalani (MI) met with Jane and others, and is interested in more information regarding CAC’s and congratulated us on such a great cause.

- Bootcamp: Jane reported that Bootcamp, being held in Colorado Springs June 19-20, is full, with 14 Midwest Region attendees. Sending 14 people turned out to be more costly than we planned due to travel scheduling difficulties. The Chapter Coordinator in IL offered to host Bootcamp next year. MRCAC will discuss this possibility with WRCAC, as Bootcamp is an NCA and Regional [Office] collaboration. The next Bootcamp session will be held in Huntsville, AL, July 19-20, 2006. Those who attend Bootcamp, should be up for re/accreditation within a 10-12 month time frame.

- Jane reported that MRCAC had a request to post on its website, the NCA Site Review Dates through 2010. NCA agreed to post this list on the NCA website soon. NCA’s website is www.nca-online.org

- Next call date change: The next call is scheduled for July 4th. Since this is a holiday, the next call has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 18th 11 CST.
