Date of Next Call: Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 11amCST

Agenda:

Jane stated a few reminders:

1) Please remember to VOTE for the NCA Board. 2 other candidates from the Midwest that were NOT chosen by the Advisory Board appear on the ballot. The candidates that the Board supports are the following: Kay Farley (Medical), Gene Klein (At Large) and Sandra Hewitt (Mental Health). We will be sending out an email to all eligible voting CAC's in our region to remind them to vote as well. Deadline for voting is 5pmEST November 17th.

2) Stuffed Bears for the Picabo Street Ski-athon: We received bears from IN, OH, MN, WI and NE (en route). Jane thanked those that have sent them in. Jane asked that the states that haven’t yet sent bears to please do so. The guideline is this: 3 stuffed bears representing 3 CAC's in your chapter labeled with the CAC name, city, state and number of children seen in the last year. Please send them to the Regional.

3) SRCAC Digital Library: We've received 5 registration applications for the new Digital Library that the Southern Regional is spear-heading. Kim reminded those who want to get registered and synched-in with this library before it goes national to all CAC's, to get their applications in by the end of this week. Please email us with questions.

4) Grant Review: Jane and Ben were both in Washington D.C. for grant review last week. They both stated it went well. The Midwest was given over $300,000 for developing (CAC) grants and $178,000 will be given to associate member grants. NCA competitive grant writing guidelines from Ben will be posted on our website. Not 1 non-member center in the Midwest applied for a training grant.

State Updates:

MO: Jay reported that internet predator press conferences were held at 2 CAC’s during the last week. The chapter is hosting a one-day training for forensic interviewers from trained FBI forensic interviewers regarding internet predatory behavior and how it relates to teen girls, in December.

NE: No new updates

ND: No new updates.

MN: Tom reported the state chapter met a week ago with DPS grant monitor to seek out additional state funding to give to the CAC’s in the state.

IA: Sue stated the chapter is meeting with DHS about satellite sites and expansion throughout the state.

KS: Kathleen stated that state funding, if their proposal is accepted, would be a long term plan through the year 2011, that could result in $7million to expand CAC’s throughout the state.

OH: The chapter just held their annual membership training.

IL: Kathy stated the chapter is putting together a compliance document to help CAC’s move forward.
