Advisory Board Meeting Minutes

June 5, 2007

Present: Jane Braun, Anne Cherek, Tom Frost, Brenda Nelson, Paula Condol, Amy Boydston, Jan Lutz, Barb Small, Ben Murray

Date of Next Call: July 3rd, 2007 11am CST

Agenda:

Grants: Jane reported OJJDP has not issued an RFP for the RCAC’s or NCA to date. Current grant cycle ends July 31, 2007. Consequently, we have no idea when or if we’re getting funding for the new fiscal year, and NCA has been unable to put out an RFP for grants to be awarded in the new cycle. Stay tuned!

MTA and Bootcamp: Anne reported that we are currently AT capacity for Bootcamp. Anne has contacted the hotel about acquiring additional rooms in our block. If you have Director's that want to attend, please let Anne know ASAP so she can estimate the number of additional rooms we may need. We'll keep you posted! MTA: We are AT capacity for our June session. If you have providers that want to attend a BASIC session, please direct them to the next upcoming session in Huntsville. (We have already begun doing so as we had a few late-comers). We do, however, still have vacancies for our ADVANCED session in September in St. Paul.

Leadership: For the presentation on Monday (June 18th) morning, Jane would like to have a meeting with the Advisory Board, similar to the process of our monthly conference calls. If any of you have any suggestions, please let Jane know. Power Point Presentations are not expected.

New Training Contract: A new contract has been signed between MRCAC, WRCAC and NDAA to provide at least 6 NCA n.e.t. trainings, Two (2) medical/legal 3-day trainings, and possible two (2) one-day trainings, one in each the West and Midwest; with the last mentioned yet to be determined in detail.

State Updates:

IN: Jan reported that the chapter is set for strategic planning in order to get legislative funds in the future.

IA: Barb reported that the chapter will be hosting a retreat this week in IA. Satellite CAC details will be discussed (training, staff, peer review, forms, etc).

KS: Amy reported that KS will be getting their state appropriation July 1, 2007. The total award was $1million dollars and the CACs in KS applied to receive grant funds from the chapter. CACs will get money based on NCA membership level, number of kids served, and geographic location. The chapter is currently working towards tax -exempt status and creating a new website.

MN: Tom reported that the chapter was appropriated $100,000 over the next two years, to be divided among the CACs in the state. The chapter will plan to conduct more educational sessions at the Capital.

ND: Paula said the chapter got $500,000 over the biennium. The chapter was awarded $100,000 of the total. The chapter is discussing what to spend the money on. They are very excited for the appropriation.

OH: Ben reported that their BOD completed a strategic plan, focused on growth of centers, as well as getting state appropriated funds.

WI: Brenda reported that they were unsuccessful to obtain money from their state legislature. They are working on finishing touches for their chapter informational brochure; they hope to have it done by Leadership.
