Advisory Board Meeting Minutes

August 7, 2007

Agenda:

Management Team Retreat: The NCA/RCAC Management Team Retreat met the last week in July and set the training calendar for 2008. All dates will be posted on the NCA website.

National Chapter Summit: Cincinnati, OH, October 23-24, 2007

Who’s going: Jane needs the names of those who want to attend by August 21st.

Anticipated to attend (financed by Regional): Billie Larkin, Ben Murray, Monica Maurer, Amy Boydston, Paula Condol, Sue Tesdahl or Barb Small, Brenda Nelson, Jan Lutz

MRCAC will finance 12 state reps, but each state can send an additional person at the cost to their CAC. Two (2) people per state is the limit.

Training details (lodging, etc) will come from NCA.

Date for Regional Chapter Summit: Sept 25-26, 2008. Location TBD. Email Jane with any location ideas (in the Midwest).

New Director Training: WRCAC is hosting 1-day new director training October 4, 2008. MRCAC does not have funds to provide for this training, so the cost is to the participant.

NCA BOD nominations: The time to name NCA BOD nominees is coming up. At this time, Jane has a 6-slot list of incumbents. Jane said that as soon as their intent to re-run is known, she will let everyone know, so nominees can begin to be named. Most of these slots are for the At-large position.

NCA RFP: The RFP is currently being reviewed in the O.C. office of OJJDP. No award release date has been issued.

State Updates:

IL: Billie reported that their chapter retreat is coming up next week month. The chapter also has a piece of legislation for CACs to collect monies from court mandated “fees and fines”. Billie said she also plans to travel around the state and visit all CACs.

IN: Jan reported that they just had a chapter meeting, and completed a draft of a strategic plan. Jan also will be working with some of IN’s developing CACs with funding issues.

IA: Sue reported that they just hired a chapter coordinator; she will be starting in 2 weeks, and has worked with a CAC in Alaska.

KS: Amy reported that their state funding rolled out their first award. They now have 6 developing centers in KS. Amy also said she plans to attend Bootcamp in Feb. ’08.

MI- not present

MN: Tom reported that the chapter received legislative monies. 4 CACs received funding. All CACs had to apply for funds. The CAC in Winona, is working on a fundraiser. October 19th is the next chapter meeting.

MO- not present

ND: Paula reported that the chapter plans to schedule a chapter conference, training, and to develop some marketing/education materials due to increased funding. A contracted medical director will be overseeing the centers in Fargo and Bismarck. Paula will be meeting with the staff at the developing center in Minot tomorrow.

NE: Ivy reported that the chapter is working on communication and training needs amongst the CAC teams. They are working on strategic training plans for interviewers.

OH: Ben reported that ONCAC moved their office in July. Currently, they are organizing their upcoming advanced forensic interviewer training in late August, and also GAL training. Anne will send out the new contact info.

SD: Monica reported that they are planning a Cultural Diversity training in November for CAC staff. The CAC was able to get a 9% raise in Medicaid coverage.

WI: Brenda reported that they had a chapter meeting in June, with the main topic regarding grants. Two funding legislative bills are pending. The chapter is also working on a web-based peer review program for their state. The CAC is LaCrosse has taken on the lead role of Finding Words, WI.
