Midwest Regional Children’s Advocacy Center
Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
June 3, 2008
Present: Kha Huynh, Tom Frost, Sondra Schwehn, Stacie Papineau, Paula Condol, Jan Lutz, Jennifer Anderson, Billie Larkin
Date of Next Call: Tuesday, July 1, 2008 11 am CST
Agenda:
New grant awarded:
Jane reported that the RCACs have received their RFP from OJJDP and will be awarded $875,801 for the new grant cycle, beginning October 1, 2008. As a result of the funding increase, each Chapter will receive Chapter stipends in the amount of $10,000. Beginning in October, applications for these stipends will be posted online. Jane asked everyone to start brainstorming on what they’d like to spend these stipends on, to promote the Chapter.
Effective immediately, our meal reimbursement policy has changed per our hospital accounting department: all meal reimbursement will be capped at $46/day, or the per diem in the area to which you travel; which ever is less. This means that the total to be reimbursed must come from detailed receipts; it is not a flat rate per diem without receipts. As a rule of thumb, always check the GSA website at www.gsa.gov before you travel to know which per diem you must follow.
Leadership:
Jane reminded everyone that we meet as a regional Wednesday morning (6/18), where we will do a state go-around, briefly updating everyone on what your chapter is working on. Please bring any chapter product (peer review, legislation initiatives, fundraising, etc) to share with everyone. If you are unable to bring enough copies of your product, you can give them to Jane to make copies Additionally, a Chapter reception is scheduled for Tuesday (6/17) night from 5:30 - 7 pm, via invitation only. If you have not received one, contact NCA.
NCA:
A new job posting has been listed at NCA, combining the positions of Julie Pape, Angela Bafile and Benjamin Murray, into one. All three are able to apply for this new position, but it is also available nationwide.
NCA n.e.t:
Kim updated everyone that the new NCA n.e.t. application has been posted on the website. Applications are due June 20th. Kim also told everyone that she will begin her region call-around in the next week and a half, checking in with each CAC and assessing any training and TA needs.
