Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2009

Agenda:
Telehealth-up and running now! Anne reported that an e-mail went out to the NCA listserv yesterday, and Anne also forwarded it to the Advisory Board. Please send it out to your centers not on the listserv to get the word out.
Scholarships from MRCAC: a reminder that scholarships for training: 6 for MTA in MW region, 6 for Court Prep. Scholarships are not available for Forensic Interviewing Training, and other trainings are scholarshipped on a case- by- case basis. MDT trainings are also scholarshipped for 1 team to attend. Also, we pay for one state rep (chapter coord) to Leadership.
Bootcamp v DVD: Watch Accreditation DVD from NCA n.e.t. instead of going to bootcamp if directors can’t attend.
Journal Club Calls-forensic interviewer topics are covered in the Journal club calls. Over 80 sites participate currently. There has been an interest expressed in creating and mental health journal calls. Kim asked the group for their thoughts: Jay stated that providers in MO would be interested- Jay also said the CAC in St. Louis has a strong mental health component and they would be a good resource. No other suggestions were make.
State trainings: Stacie Papineau suggested states within the region let each other know when they have trainings within driving distance with budget cuts.
The National Chapter Summit has been set for October 14-15, Denver, CO. One person from each chapter will have expenses paid to attend the Summit.
State updates:
Illinois: Billie stated that the chapter is getting ready for their fundraising walk in May. The walk is 4 days and the Governor will be the Grand Marshall. The chapter is also working on restructing the board of directors.
Indiana: Jan reported that the state’s CACs has VOCA grants at the end of the month. State- wide training for court testimony is continuing to be presented.
Iowa: Stacie reported that the chapter is in talks with DHS to a do a state-wide training for assessment workers. The chapter retreat will be this summer and is currently being planned, as well as plans for a state-wide MDT training.
Kansas: Amy reported that the chapter has testified to keep money for CACs in the Governor’s budget. The chapter is also looking at doing some state-wide training.
Missouri: Jay reported that the chapter is involved in appropriations at the legislator. In a few weeks, Missouri’s Safe Care training, a medical training for providers in Missouri, will be beginning. Also, the chapter has a new board and will be holding a new board member retreat on March 6th. CAC directors in the state are working on professional development plans to be distributed to all Missouri CACs.
Nebraska: Ivy reported that the chapter has been doing/planning a lot of training. Next week they are holding training on ICWA. A local law enforcement training is currently being planned as well.
Ohio: Libby reported that last week the chapter launched their state-wide prevention effort, which identifies leaders in communities with CACs, to help with prevention efforts. Funding for this effort is state funded
South Dakota: Erin reported that she is making visits to the CACs in the state. Summer retreat plans are in the works currently, and are working on their 501c3 paperwork as well.
Wisconsin: Jeanne reported that the chapter has the Child Maltreatment Conference in LaCrosse, WI April 5th.
