  • Continuing medical education activities that provide Category I credit include:
    – weekly Pediatric Grand Rounds
    – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    – neonatal resuscitation course
    – mini-fellowships, individually designed for primary care physicians
    – annual Practical Pediatrics Course for the Primary Care Physicians, held in September.
    – interdisciplinary seminars
    – annual Spring Pediatric Update, held in May
  • Continuing medical education activities that provide Category II credit include monthly Tumor Conferences and weekly
    Cardiology Conferences.
  • Medical students from the University of Minnesota receive pediatric training during their third and fourth year.
  • Affiliated with the department of pediatrics and department of family practice at the University of Minnesota to provide residency rotations in pediatrics and other elective rotations, including:
    – ambulatory pediatrics
    – anesthesiology
    – cardiology
    – dermatology
    – emergency medicine
    – endocrinology
    – gastroenterology
    – neonatology
    – pediatric surgery
    – pulmonology
    – radiology
    – rheumatology
  • Fellowships in pediatric critical care, emergency medicine
    and neonatology.

Mini-fellowship program

  • Practical hands-on training opportunity for primary care physicians.
  • Arrangements can be made to brush up or learn new skills or update knowledge about pediatrics. The experience can be customized to your needs and could range from observation and case discussions to actual hands-on training.
  • These sessions can be designed for Category I CME credit.
  • To qualify, participants must have:
    – a current Minnesota physician’s license
    – malpractice insurance
    – objectives you wish to accomplish
  • Requests will be reviewed by the director of medical education.
