Social Work

Social workers are trained professionals who help families problem-solve and find resources to cope with their child’s diagnosis. Social workers help families with:

  • Disability services
  • Discharge planning
  • Financial challenges
  • Health insurance
  • Services available through private and government agencies
  • Workplace issues

Social workers also may provide emotional support and counseling to children and their family members. Services may include:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Grief and loss counseling and referral
  • Mental health assessments for children experiencing a mental health or emotional crisis
  • Short-term therapeutic interventions for children, parents, and their families
