Quintuplets born at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis

Babies in critical, but stable condition at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota

Minneapolis (June 19, 2009) – Angela and Heath Tille, both 31, of River Falls, WI, became parents of quintuplets today at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. The babies, four girls and one boy, were born between 10:29 and 10:32 a.m.

The quintuplets were born at 29 weeks and two days gestation. The babies’ names and weights are:

2 lbs.

11 oz.

Lauren Olivia

2 lbs.

3.5 oz

Alex Michael

2 lbs.

10 oz

Emma Nicole

2 lbs.

.5 oz

Madeline Paige

2 lbs.

6 oz

The Tilles also have a 19-month-old daughter, Meredith.

A team of 11 clinicians led by perinatologists William Block, MD, and William Wagner, MD, high-risk obstetrician/gynecologists from Abbott Northwestern, delivered the babies.

Children’ clinical staff of 17, led by neonatologists David Brasel, MD, Bruce Ferrara, MD, Ronald Hoekstra, MD, Jane Barthell, MD, and Virginia Hustead, MD, stabilized and transported the quintuplets through a tunnel connecting the hospital to Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
