Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Share your Children’s Story project?
Children’s has been Minnesota’s children’s hospital since 1924. Since that time, thousands of lives in the upper Midwest have been touched by Children’s doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers. By sharing your Children’s story, you become a part of the larger story that has taken over 80 years to create – and continues to grow every day.

What is the overall goal of the project?
Our publications and Web site often feature stories from our patient families, physicians, and donors. The Share your Children’s Story project will build upon this library of stories. We believe that all the stories will help other families, employees, and the community gain insight into the extraordinary care and service being carried out at Children’s.

What kind of stories are you looking for?
We are interested in all kinds of personal reflections about Children’s of Minnesota. You may be a current or former patient, family member, volunteer, donor, or staff member. If Children’s has given you an experience to remember, we’d like to hear from you.

How will you protect my privacy on the site?
We know how important privacy is. Remember that any information you disclose within the body of your story will be public – accessible to any visitor to our site. Only your first name and town (if provided) will be used to identify your story online. You can review our privacy statement to learn more.

Can I remain anonymous?
You can tell your story in very broad, general terms to avoid any direct link to your personal experience, if you wish. If you don’t want any identifying information – even your first name – to appear in the story, please tell us at the top of your story. You can also use made-up names (for you or your child’s) as you write your story. We do still want to know your actual name on the form you submit, but it won’t be used in the published document if you indicate that you do not want your first and / or last name published.

How can others look at my story?
Only information you want to share will be used to archive your story. Visitors to the site can search the archive using author's first name, title of story, or date it was submitted.

Can I mail in my story?
Certainly. Send your stories to: Children’s, Attention: Story Project, 2550 University Avenue West, Suite 216 South, St. Paul, MN 55114.

What will you do with the stories?
The Share your Story project will be an ongoing part of Children’s Web site. In addition, because Children’s often uses stories from patient families, physicians, and donors to communicate our care and service, stories and photos posted on our Web site may be reprinted in other Children's publications and Web pages.
