A prolonged length of stay might indicate complications. The length of stay ratio compares how long a patient stays in the hospital (actual) to how long they are expected to stay given the severity of their illness. A ratio of 1.0 means a patient’s stay is exactly as long as expected.
Children's performs similar to its peers on this outcome.
This measure uses data from the Pediatric Health Information System (PHIS). PHIS is a comprehensive comparative pediatric database of 42 children's hospitals that evaluates clinical and financial details of more than six million patient cases.
