Over 65% of mistakes in healthcare are due to errors in communication and team work. Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota established simulation-based team training in 2004 as a strategy to improve team performance in high-risk, low-volume emergency events. Simulation training enables healthcare professionals to practice in a risk-free environment, providing opportunities for repeated practice in responding to simulated emergencies. The simulations focus on improving critical care skills, clinical reasoning, and communication and teamwork. After the simulation scenario, guided by trained facilitators, the team analyzes what went well, and where improvements can be made. |

Children's Mobile Simulation TrainingPerhaps known best for our 40-foot simulation bus, Children's Mobile Training Center was the first mobile simulation program in the nation dedicated solely to pediatric and neonatal training. |

Children's In-Situ Simulation TrainingChildren's simulation staff delivers pediatric and neonatal simulation training into any care area of Children's Hospitals and Clinics. Teams can train in their own clinical environment - targeting improving team performance, while providing an opportunity to test the environment and hospital systems for latent errors. |

Children's Simulation Training - Territorial Rd Training FacilityOur 5000 sq foot training facility serves healthcare professionals participating in standardized courses such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, as well as customized simulation courses. These courses may include skill training, competency assessment, or simulation sessions that often require more time and space than the in-situ program or mobile training center can provide. Children's Simulation Training Center's mission is to make healthcare safer for children by advancing patient safety within our own walls and delivering pediatric training to other healthcare teams within the region.
Our vision is to be this region's pediatric simulation resource and contribute to Children's reputation as a high reliability organization by:

Putting PALS, Trauma courses, and Crisis Resource Management into practice
This course creates realistic, dynamic, pediatric emergency situations that require healthcare personnel to apply their knowledg eof PALS or other standardized guidelines, and utilize technical and clinical decision-making skills in their response as a team. This course is customized to meet the needs of your organization and can cover a spectrum from early recognition of a child's deteriorating condition to resuscitation team training.
