Basic Life Support ( BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Our online BLS course allows you to complete the didactic portion of class online and the hands-on portion at a 45-minute skills validation. Skills covered include one and two rescuer CPR for the infant, child, and adult, and use of an AED.

Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS)

PEARS, developed by the American Heart Association (AHA), is for healthcare providers who infrequently see critically ill children or any healthcare provider who might encounter pediatric patients. PEARS focuses on prevention, specifically the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric patients at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress. Register

Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

The Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) for Providers is a 16-hour course designed to provide core-level pediatric knowledge and psychomotor skills associated with the delivery of emergency nursing care to the pediatric patient. The course content is presented through lectures and psychomotor skill stations. Course content reviews pertinent information for the emergency room nurse on the areas of respiratory assessment, shock, pediatric triage, resuscitation, trauma, and child maltreatment. Register

Special Children’s Outreach and Pre-hospital Education (SCOPE)

SCOPE developed by Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, improves the pre-hospital care responder’s knowledge and comfort level with chronically ill and technology-dependent children. SCOPE provides basic information on chronic pediatric medical conditions, as well as the technologies and equipment that may be necessary.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

PALS, developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), is for healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies. PALS gives healthcare professionals the knowledge and skills to better recognize and treat critically ill children. This course emphasizes rapid assessment and recognition, airway management, and pharmacological/electrical intervention in the peri-arrest pediatric patient. Register for PALS or for PALS Re-certification.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

ACLS, designed by the American Heart Association (AHA), is for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective BLS with ACLS interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support, designed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons (ACS), is intended for all levels of pre-hospital providers. This course promotes critical thinking and addresses multi-system trauma through an evidence-based approach.

Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)

The Trauma Nurse Core Course provides the essentials of trauma nurse training, reviewing the systematic approach of initial assessment  and stabilization of the trauma patient, including concepts of triage during a disaster. The course  presents core-level knowledge, refine skills, and build a firm foundation in trauma nursing. Register

S.T.A.B.L.E. Program

The S.T.A.B.L.E. program is the first neonatal program to focus exclusively on the post-resuscitation/pre-transport stabilization care for sick newborns.  S.T.A.B.L.E. stands for the six assessment and care modules in the program: Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, and Emotional support.

Provider Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Children’s Neonatal Resuscitation Program includes team training using a computerized manikin. Online testing is utilized to reduce the time spent in the classroom and focus on skill development. Simulation scenarios will be used to achieve competence in providing neonatal resuscitation. Certification and re-certification is available.

Children's Simulation Center

Children's offers the first mobile simulation center in the United States to focus solely on pediatric and neonatal emergency care. A motor coach outfitted with simulation equipment and staffed with Children’s experts, travels throughout the Midwest to train staff from hospitals in the best practices when responding to pediatric or neonatal medical emergencies. Simulation training is risk-free for patients, and develops clinical skills and team communication to improve patient outcomes.
