Children’s PICUs earn top recognition in Consumer Reports

Children's PICUs earned outstanding recognition in Consumer Reports' review of central line bloodstream infection data from 2010 in pediatric intensive care units of 92 children’s hospitals around the country. In the report, the PICU at Children’s – St. Paul was one of just five PICUs reporting zero bloodstream infections in 2010, and earning the highest possible rating. The PICU at Children’s – Minneapolis was one of 29 hospitals that earned the second highest rating because it reported less than half as many blood stream infections as the national average.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation honors Children’s John McNamara, MD

The Minnesota Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation recently honored John McNamara, MD, medical director for Children’s cystic fibrosis program at its annual Breath of Life gala. Dr. McNamara’s award was part of an eventful end of the year for the entire Children’s cystic fibrosis and endocrinology program team. In November, several members of the team, including Dr. McNamara, participated in and presented at the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference in Anaheim, Calif.

New DEXA scanner at Children's

Children’s radiology department now accepts direct referrals for its new DEXA scanner, the latest addition to its extensive radiology technology tailored to fit the needs of children. In addition to being the most accurate method used to measure bone density, the DEXA scanner also employs the lowest amount of radiation for pediatric bone scans.

With Children's Physician Access, you're one call away from referring a patient or consulting with a primary care physician or specialist — 24 hours a day.

Remote EMR Access

Stay connected with your patients, while they're at Children's. Monitor their condition and treatment at Children's by accessing their electronic medical record.

Transport Services

Transport for any critically ill child is provided to Children's from any distance in the Upper Midwest. Neonatal and pediatric transport teams are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ask a Children's Specialist

For non-urgent questions and consultations, physicians may request a response from pediatric specialists and subspecialists via e-mail.
