Enter the Children's/Kohl's Flu Prevention video contest
We’ve hosted a video contest for high school and middle schools across Minnesota the last two years as part of our efforts to teach kids about influenza prevention. We’re excited to announce we’re hosting the contest again this year!
The contest gives students a chance to use their creativity and video skills to create a public service announcement about the importance of flu prevention. Last year’s winner was Bloomington-Jefferson High School. The students who did the video earned $3,000 for their school.
We’ll award the top three videos $3,000, $1,500, and $1,000, thanks to generous support from Kohl’s Cares. The three winning videos will be distributed to middle and high schools throughout Minnesota. We’ll also host a celebration at the winning school to recognize the students’ work.
To find out if your school is eligible to participate or to learn more about the rules, talk to your school media department or nursing staff. The submission deadline is Jan. 27, 2012. Videos should be submitted to our Flu Prevention group on Vimeo.
2011 Winners
This video from Bloomington Jefferson High School students won our video contest! The students will be awarded $3,000 for their school. St. Mary's School in Owatonna won second-place with its animated LEGO video, and Dassel-Cokato Middle School won third-place with its "Germinator" video.
The Kohl’s and Children’s Influenza Prevention Project for Kids
Influenza prevention education is an important step to keeping kids healthy during the flu season. That is why the Kohl’s Cares program awarded Children’s a $441,259 grant in 2009, a $422,000 grant in 2010 and a $483,230 grant in 2011 to create the Kohl’s and Children’s Influenza Prevention Project for Kids. The project offers free vaccination clinics and educational assemblies in schools to teach children about flu prevention.
