Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is making the hospital feel more like home through the Fill A Room With Care program. Through this program and the support of generous donors, Children’s has created 280 private patient rooms in Minneapolis and St. Paul as part of a campus expansion project. The design of the rooms was the result of a collaborative effort that included staff, families, and, most importantly, patients – all who provided their input on an ideal patient room. The resulting spaces are bigger, brighter and more accommodating for patients, families and caregiver teams.

The private patient rooms feature technology and amenities made to improve the quality of care.

• Patients benefit from an interactive entertainment system including a flat-screen TV, DVD player, and video game console. This system is a piece of home for the kids and helps distract them from medical treatments.
• Parents benefit from a comfortable living space including a sofa bed, a connectivity workstation, and a personal refrigerator. Parents have the peace of mind of knowing they can be with their child, 24/7.
• Caregivers benefit from more space for patient-dedicated equipment and medications. This allows for more personalized care in a more comfortable environment.
