Children's - Minneapolis Pediatric Critical Care Unit

The Children's - Minneapolis Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a multidisciplinary, intensive care facility providing 31 staffed beds for critically ill infants (older than 10 days), children and adolescents.  The unit is equipped and staffed to provide care for the full spectrum of pediatric critical illnesses.  The majority of PICU patients require respiratory, cardiovascular or neurologic support for a variety of medical and surgical conditions.  Surgical admissions remain the predominant population.  Less common disorders, such as inborn errors of metabolism, primary renal and endocrinologic abnormalities, and immunological deficiencies, as well as hematologic/oncologic emergencies are a growing percentage of PICU admissions.
