Children's Physician Access
Through Children's Physician Access you have 24-hour-a-day live access to services and expertise at
Children's - Minneapolis and Children's - St. Paul. This toll-free line offers a single point of access to
representatives who will assist you with:
- Consultations with primary care physicians, and specialists
- Referrals, admissions, and transport services
- General Children's information, including services, programs, and locations

Find a Doctor
Need to locate a member of Children's professional staff? Children's Find a Doctor tool offers access to more than 1,100 members of Children's professional staff, including physicians, dentists, oral surgeons, advanced practice registered nurses, psychologists, podiatrists, physician assistants, pharmacists, genetic counselors and social workers.
Admissions
For same day or urgent admissions, please call Children's Physician Access and be prepared to provide the following information:
- patient's name
- date of birth
- sex
- primary care provider's name
- referring physician's name
- diagnosis, isolation requirements
- special needs requirements
- anticipated time and means of arrival
- request for coverage by the teaching service
Scheduled Admissions
Already scheduled an admission? In addition to the information listed above, please be prepared to also include the patient's address, telephone number and insurance coverage. Physicians' offices will be responsible for meeting insurance company pre-certification requirements prior to admission.
A history and physical examination form must be completed no more than 30 days prior to admission or surgery, before any procedure, and not more than 24 hours post admission.

Urgent or Emergency Admissions
The emergency room will provide triage for urgent or emergency admissions. The clinical review coordinator will assist with necessary certification.
ECMO Services
Extracorpreal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) services are provided for both neonatal and pediatric patients with severe respiratory and/or cardiac insufficiency that is unresponsive to mechanical ventilation and medical therapy. Staff are available 24 hours a day for professional consultation, patient transport or provision of ECMO at Children's-Minneapolis.
