Children's ranked in neonatology, cardiology & heart surgery, and pulmonology as part of 2013-2014 Best Children's Hospitals
Minneapolis, Minn. – (June 11, 2013) – Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota has been honored by U.S. News & World Report as a 2013-2014 Best Children's Hospital. Children's has been ranked on the list every year since the program's inception in 2007.
For the sixth year in a row, Children's was ranked in neonatology. Children's has the largest high-risk neonatal referral center in the region, with some of the best outcomes in the country for these young and fragile patients. With the addition of The Mother Baby Center on its Minneapolis hospital campus earlier this year, Children's looks to continue to lead the region in this specialty for years to come. Children's neonatology has been on the list since U.S. News began ranking hospitals by specialty areas in 2008.

Dr. Barbara N. Malone newest member of growing pediatric ENT team
Minneapolis, Minn. – (June 6, 2013) – Barbara N. Malone, MD, has joined Children's ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery, a part of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. She will be practicing at both Children's – Minneapolis and Children's – St. Paul, where Children's has opened a new full service ENT clinic. Dr. Malone is highly regarded in the regional medical community for her expertise and long standing commitment to the care of children with disorders of the head and neck.

Laurel Edinburgh named Minnesota Pediatric Nurse Practitioner of the Year; Maria Christu and Jeff Weness receive business industry recognition
Minneapolis, Minn. – (May 30, 2013) – Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota today announced that three of its leaders have been recognized by professional organizations and business publications for their leadership and professional contributions.
Laurel Edinburgh, a pediatric nurse practitioner at Children's, was named Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) of the Year for 2013 by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP). Each year, the award is given to one Minnesota PNP who best exemplifies the mission of NAPNAP, which is to promote optimal health for children through leadership, practice, advocacy, education and research. Laurel was honored at the Minnesota chapter's NAPNAP May 9 annual meeting.

First pediatric-only hospital in Minnesota to be recognized by a national body for having highest level of expertise in treating critically injured children
Minneapolis, Minn. – (June 3, 2013) – Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota has received verification by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and designation from the State of Minnesota Department of Health as a Level I pediatric trauma center at its Minneapolis campus, the highest verification offered by the ACS Committee on Trauma. It is the first pediatric-only hospital in the state to receive this recognition for having the highest level of expertise in treating critically injured children.

Minneapolis, Minn. – (May 28, 2013) – Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota today announced the promotion of Dave Overman to president and chief operating officer. Overman adds president to his title after serving in the role of chief operating officer since 2008. Prior president Alan L. Goldbloom, MD, will continue to serve as Children's chief executive officer with a focus on long-term strategy, philanthropy, government relations and board relationships.
