Dr. Barbara N. Malone newest member of growing pediatric ENT team

Minneapolis, Minn. – (June 6, 2013) – Barbara N. Malone, MD, has joined Children's ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery, a part of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. She will be practicing at both Children's – Minneapolis and Children's – St. Paul, where Children's has opened a new full service ENT clinic. Dr. Malone is highly regarded in the regional medical community for her expertise and long standing commitment to the care of children with disorders of the head and neck.

She is no stranger to Children's, having been a member of its professional staff for nearly 25 years. In that time she has served as chief of staff, chief of surgery, chief of peer review of the anesthesia and surgical pathology division, and as a director on the Children's board.

Dr. Malone joins Children's growing ENT team which now includes four physicians, a nurse practitioner, two audiologists and a speech pathologist. A second nurse practitioner is slated to start later this month.

In the past year, Children's has expanded to offer full service ENT care at both its Minneapolis and St. Paul hospital campuses, through Children's ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery. As the only otolaryngology practice in the Upper Midwest devoted exclusively to pediatrics, the ENT program diagnoses and treats a variety of ENT problems – from common to complex.

Children's works closely with other specialists to provide interdisciplinary care in its clinics, including cleft and craniofacial, plagiocephaly, vascular anomalies, velocardiofacial syndrome, head and neck cancer clinic, and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis. Children's also offers prenatal counseling for cleft and craniofacial conditions. Some members of the team will work at both the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses.

"At Children's, one of our goals is to provide more children access to pediatric ENT expertise," said James Sidman, MD, medical director of Children's ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery. "This expansion of our staff and the opening of a clinic in St. Paul better positions us in the community to meet the pediatric needs for simple to complex otolaryngology care."
