Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and HealthPartners open shared clinic and first urgent care in Hugo
MINNEAPOLIS– May 15, 2013 – Busy parents, active kids and people of all ages in Hugo will soon have a convenient new option for health care. The Hugo Clinic, which opens to patients May 20, will bring top pediatric and family care to the Hugo community.
The new, 12,300-square-foot facility will house a HealthPartners family medicine clinic – including primary care doctors and a chiropractor – a night and weekend urgent care, and will also be the new home of Northeast Pediatric Clinic, previously located in Vadnais Heights and part of Children's of Minnesota. Northeast Pediatrics and HealthPartners will share space and clinical support services including an on-site lab and X-ray. The clinic is located on 14701 Victor Hugo Blvd. N., off of Main Street, near Festival Foods.
"The Hugo Clinic will offer high quality care for the entire family, with the combined expertise of staff from HealthPartners, Children's and Northeast Pediatrics," said Dave Overman, chief operating officer at Children's of Minnesota. "This convenient new clinic will allow our organizations to serve the families of the Hugo area, who will benefit from improved, efficient and coordinated care."
The Hugo Clinic will also have extended hours for pediatrics and will be the first urgent care facility in the community. Currently, the nearest urgent care for area residents is more than 10 miles away in Wyoming, Minn. The Hugo Clinic urgent care will offer walk-in treatment for a wide range of minor conditions and injuries, including stitches, sprains, strains, sore throats and ear infections. Walk-in camp and sports physicals are also available.
"Hugo is thrilled to welcome Children's of Minnesota and HealthPartners to town," said Hugo Mayor Tom Weidt. "We are excited about the urgent care, which will be a game-changer for the citizens of Hugo. We look forward to a long partnership with Children's and HealthPartners."
Like all HealthPartners clinics, the Hugo Clinic will accept most kinds of insurance. A patient does not have to have HealthPartners insurance to visit the clinic or urgent care.
"Our partnership with Children's is about providing better, more affordable care and an exceptional experience for children and families," said HealthPartners President and CEO Mary Brainerd. "The Hugo Clinic is a great example of working together to improve health."
