Research, Innovations and Advancements
At Children's Vascular Anomalies Center, our largest patient population continues to consist of children with hemangiomas. The most exciting development is the recent discovery of the effectiveness of oral Propranolol in the management of infantile hemangioma. This treatment has revolutionized the care of children with hemangiomas. Since October 2009, Children's has treated 90 children with oral Propranolol and our experts have reported this experience at the annual meeting of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
