Your child's ears, nose and throat are in good hands

ent 3

The ear, nose and throat (ENT) and facial plastic surgery program at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota offers a full range of services focused on the medical and surgical treatment of conditions that affect the head and neck.

Our experienced team works with families to resolve ENT issues at any time — during pregnancy, immediately after birth and throughout childhood. We do everything from helping kids with tonsillitis feel better to reshaping a child's face after it has been shattered in an auto accident. Whether a child is born with a malformed head, a baby has serious feeding complications or a toddler has a facial birth mark, we have the tools, the know-how and the technology to make it better.

For families facing ENT conditions that are more complex, we work closely with other Children's specialists to provide your child with expert care from other clinics, including the cleft and craniofacial clinic and the head and neck cancers program.

For kids only

Many disorders of the head and neck are seen only in children. Other conditions that also affect adults require vastly different treatment for children. That's why our pediatric experts diagnose and treat ENT and head and neck conditions exclusively in babies, children and teens.

At Children's, we're experts in diagnosing and treating all ENT disorders, including common conditions such as:
We also have the experience and the training to also treat more complex issues, including:

  • Lymphangiomas
    (lymphatic malformations)
  • Plagiocephaly
    (flat-shaped head)
  • Port wine stains
  • Protruding and prominent ears
  • Speech disorders
  • Swallowing disorders
  • Thyroid and parathyroid tumors
  • Tumors of the head and neck
  • Tracheal stenosis
Our ENT and facial plastic surgery program also offers extensive hearing-related expertise for conditions of the ear, including:

  • Audiogram
(a graph that shows hearing ability)
  • Audiology services
  • Care for hearing loss

Staying the course with surgery

Many ear, nose and throat disorders can be effectively treated with medications or other non-invasive therapies.

But when surgery is the best option, we offer cutting-edge procedures that are minimally invasive and less intrusive on your little one. Remember that every one of our board-certified otolaryngologists (ENT physicians) is also fully trained as a pediatric facial plastic surgeon. It's part of our practice and an integral part of our mission to make every kid meet the world with a smile.

And as an organization dedicated to family-centered care, the ENT and facial plastic surgery program offers many child and family services and resources, such as interpretive services.
