Lab and Pathology
Experts on common to complex conditions
The experts at Children's diagnose just about every medical problem imaginable affecting babies, children and teens. With over 1 million tests conducted each year, there’s virtually nothing we haven’t seen.
Just a few of the kid conditions we tackle:
Diabetes—Disorder that affects the body's ability to transform sugar from food into energy.
Just what the doctor ordered — and more
The science of medical diagnostics advances quickly, and at Children's, we're always at the leading edge. Here's how we're working behind the scenes to support your child's care:
Comprehensive diagnostics. When doctors have clinical questions, we answer. Our testing capabilities include:
Lab informatics—We use the latest computer technology to prevent lab errors and guard your family's privacy. Test results are available through the MyChildren’s portal.
Transfusion medicine and blood bank—Provides safe and timely preparation and transfer of blood products to kids in need.
Point of care testing—When possible, our staff performs testing at your child's bedside. This helps soothe anxiety and speeds results to the care team.
Integrated genetic counseling—When a genetic disorder is suspected, our genetic counselors support families through the diagnostic process and work with their clinicians and families to make decisions about further testing.
Research and clinical trials—We're proud to support the many pioneering clinical trials happening at Children's. And our board-certified pathologists conduct their own kid-focused research in medical diagnostics.
