Outcomes and research

Children's has made significant contributions to national research in the areas of epilepsy (drugs and databases), neuro-oncology and mitigating the impact of brain injuries with induced hypothermia or "brain cooling." In partnership with the Minnesota Epilepsy Group, Children's has helped bring ten new anti-seizure medications to market. It has also created a database for children with Tuberous Sclerosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in many different organs, primarily in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs.
