The pediatric surgery teams know the score

Choosing where to bring your child for surgical care is a major decision. You need all the information you can get. And you want it in a clear, straightforward form that helps you make the right choice for your family.

That's why we share our outcomes with you. In medicine, "outcomes" measure the end results of a treatment. They're an objective way of evaluating how good a hospital is at treating your child's condition. By comparing our outcomes with those of other hospitals, locally and nationally, you can see how we rank in terms of keeping patients safe and healthy. As you'll see, the surgical outcomes at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota are outstanding.

Parents give Children's high marks

Another way we assess ourselves is by asking parents how they think we're doing. And our patients and families think we're pretty awesome. In surveys, more than 90% of family members of surgical patients had positive things to say including:

  • I had confidence and trust in the doctors treating my child.
  • When I had important questions about my child to ask a doctor, I received answers I could understand.
  • I was involved in decisions about my child's care as much as I wanted.
  • The staff did everything they could to control my child's pain.
  • The staff showed genuine care and compassion for me and my family.
