Q: Will I wake up during anesthesia?
A: If you are having general anesthesia you will not wake up until your surgery or procedure is over. See anesthesia

Q: Can I bring my cell phone?

A: Cell phones can interfere with some types of medical equipment. Therefore, it is best to leave your cell phone at home. Each room has a private phone for your use.

Q: Can I keep my underwear on?
A: This will vary depending on the surgery or procedure you are having. Ask your pre-op nurse.

Q: Does it hurt when they put the IV in?
A: There may be some discomfort but there are ways to help reduce discomfort or anxiety you may feel. Every person's experience is different so your healthcare team will work with you to decide what will work best for you.

Q: Do I have to remove my jewelry?
A: Usually all jewelry must be removed. However, if you have concerns about removing a piece of jewelry please discuss this with your pre-op nurse.

Q: What if I 'm having my period?
A: That's okay. Pads and tampons can be worn during most surgeries. Check with your pre-op nurse.

Q: What overall advice do teens have for us?
A: Be confident and be comfortable with what is going on around you. If you have questions ask your parents or your doctor.
