Kyanne's Story
Brooklyn Center, MN
Hello. My name is Kyanne, I'm 8 years old and I'm having surgery for the second time in my life. I was born with whats called a lymphangioma (lymph - angioma) which is liquid, blood vessels and tissue that forms together creating a tumor. It's not cancerous. It's on my right leg.
The first time I had surgery I was 4 years old, I don't remember much about it. Now that I'm older I remember everything. The nurses were so nice, even though I was a little scared they made me feel really happy. They told me everything that would happen and even showed me pictures so that I wouldn't be afraid.
My mom and dad were with me when I went to sleep, I had to put this tube on my face and breath in this air that was blowing through the tube, the cool part about this was that I got to pick out any flavor I wanted to smell. I picked Dr. Pepper. I was so sleepy after the surgery, to help me wake up they gave me a popsicle.
Since the surgery I've had a lot of pain and my leg has been really sore and it's hard to walk but I'm getting the hang of it. I just want to say thank you to my doctor and all the nurses that helped me. Hope you like my story. The End
