Jett's Story
By Diana
Perham, MN
Our son Jett was born on Feb. 2008. We did not know until about 8 hours after he was born that he was missing the right side of his heart (Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome). He was first air-lifted to Fargo from Perham and Dr. Rios (who now is with Children's) diagnosed him and sent him to Children's.
He had his first surgery, a shunt, at 5 days old and we brought him home 10 days after that. Dr. Moga did his surgery and Jett not only recovered well but grew big and strong. Seven months later, Jett came back to Children's to have his second surgery, Glenn, and once again, Dr. Moga did a wonderful job with our little guy. He recovered very well and has amazed us all.
He is now 13 months old and doing great. He's walking, learning new things and tires us out, even though we were told he may tire easy! The entire experience has been extremely difficult for all of us, but watching Jett continue to be strong, helps us gain strength. And also knowing that we have such great doctors such as Dr. Moga, Dr. Rios, Dr. Burton and others as well as the rest of the staff at Children's to help whenever needed helps as well.
Jett will be back in about a year to have this third (and hopefully final) heart surgery.
