Q: Is this the only opportunity to apply for positions as a new therapist?
A: This is the preferred primary entry point for new graduates. Children’s encourages all new grads to apply for this program as a way to enhance the transition from respiratory school to RCP practice. From time to time, there may be non-residency positions open.
Q: Does the residency program offer positions in specialty areas?
A. Throughout the RCP Residency program you will have the opportunity to learn about many areas of pediatric respiratory care (i.e. med/surg, critical care, neonatal, and emergency services, etc.).
Q: Is this the only opportunity to apply for positions as a new therapist?
A: Throughout the RCP Residency program you will have the opportunity to learn about many areas of pediatric respiratory therapy care (i.e. med/surg, critical care, neonatal).
Q: When will I hear if I have been accepted to the program?
A: Applications are due March 26, 2010. Resident position offers will be made early April 2010.
Q: What are my salary and benefits?
A: The salary and benefit of a New Graduate RCP Resident will be the same as any other new graduate RCP at Children’s and is competitive with other new graduate programs in the area.
Q: What shifts will I work in this program?
A: The shift for a New Graduate RCP Residency program will be full time days for the first 4-4.5 months. Towards the completion of the program, the RCP will apply for a position at that time and your shift may change.
Q: When will I get my schedule?
A: Schedules for the first month of the program will be sent out about four weeks prior to your start date.
