Children’s offers a variety of opportunities for family involvement. We hope you will consider becoming involved through Families as Partners. We will work with you to match your skills, your interests, and your availability to various roles and opportunities.
What do families do through Families as Partners?
Among other things, they
provide input and feedback
review materials and programs
- Educate
- share their stories and experiences
- advise
- plan
- design units, waiting areas, play rooms
- help develop policy
- support and mentor other families

What is the Time Commitment?
We welcome all levels of involvement from one-time to short-term to long-term commitments. You decide what works best for you, and your level of involvement may change over time. Based on your interests and availability, specific opportunities include:
- one-time event
- quarterly, monthly or weekly commitment
- short-term commitment of a few weeks or month
- long-term commitment, continuing for many weeks, months or years
How do you become involved through Families as Partners?
The process includes the following steps:
1. Application (.doc)
- can be completed and mailed, or sent via e-mail as an attachment
- can be completed over the phone with the Families as Partners Coordinator
2. Interview
Within two weeks of receiving your application, someone will contact you to set up the interview. During the interview, the Families as Partners Coordinator will talk with you about:
- your experiences at Children’s
- your reasons for wanting to get involved
- your hopes and concerns about being involved
- your time availability
- your areas of interest and experience
3. Orientation and Training
To be determined based on type of involvement.
4. Involvement
You will hear about different opportunities and have the chance to express interest
- during the interview
- during orientation and training sessions
- through communication from the Families as Partners Coordinator
