Programs and Activities

Parent to Parent: Parent to Parent is intended to offer newly bereaved parents emotional support from parent volunteers who are themselves are bereaved but whose child died more than 2 years ago. The parent volunteers are assigned to an interested family and provide emotional support via the telephone. Memorial Services: Services of remembrance are offered twice a year to publicly acknowledge the loss of the children and to offer families time to memorialize them.

Camp Connect: A weekend retreat designed for children and teens who have had a sibling die. It is intended to help them connect with other bereaved siblings as well as approach their grief in a fun setting.

Fall Retreat: A once-a-year event for families to share with each other, to remember their child, and to learn about grief.

Grief Support Program: Programs for bereaved parents, siblings (ages 4-18 years old), and extended family members are offered at Children’s - Minneapolis, Children’s - St. Paul, and in the community twice a year. A daytime group is also offered.

Newsletter: A newsletter is sent out twice a year to families for up to two years following a death. The newsletter is also available on line . The link is on the Healing Quilt home page.

Compassion Connection: Educational seminars are offered to Children’s staff four times a year around issues related to grief and loss. Notices are sent out prior to each session and CEUs are available to attendees.
