Anne Bendel, MD, attended medical school and completed her pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Bendel joined Children's hematology/oncology program in 1994. She has an interest in neuro-oncology.

Bruce Bostrom, MD, attended Mayo Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He completed his pediatric hematology/oncology, bone marrow transplantation, and clinical pharmacology fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Bostrom joined the hematology/oncology program at Children's in 1988. His areas of interest include leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, and targeted cancer therapy.

Julie Chu, MD, attended medical school at the University of North Dakota. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota and her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in California. Dr. Chu joined Children's hematology/oncology program in 2005. Her areas of interest include general oncology, solid tumors, and bone tumors.

Jocelyn Gorlin, RN, CNP - Pediatrics, received her undergraduate nursing degree from Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and master's degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She joined the hematology/oncology program at Children's in 2002. Her interests include hemophilia, von Willebrands disease, and other coagulopathies.

Melissa Hansen, RN, CNP - Pediatrics, earned her nursing degree from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota; and her graduate degree from the University of Minnesota. She joined the Children's hematology/oncology program in 2002, left in 2003, and returned in 2008. Her interests include neuro-oncology and primary care issues.

Margaret Heisel Kurth, MD, attended medical school and completed her pediatric residency at the University Minnesota. Dr. Kurth completed her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in California. She joined the hematology/oncology program at Children's in 1982. Her areas of interest include pediatric bleeding disorders, bleeding disorders in women, and pediatric thrombosis.

Jane Hennessy, RN, CNP – Pediatrics, MPH, received her nursing degree from Carroll-Columbia College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and earned her undergraduate degree, master's degree in nursing, and master's degree in public health from the University Minnesota. Jane began working in the hematology/oncology program at Children's as a registered nurse in 1989 and became a nurse practitioner in 2000. Her special interests include sickle-cell disease, bleeding disorders, transition to adult care, and preventative care.

Kimberly Jacobson, RN, CNP - Pediatrics, received her undergraduate nursing degree and master's degree from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. She began working at Children’s as a registered nurse in hematology/oncology in 1999 and became a pediatric nurse practitioner in 2004. Her interests include leukemia and bleeding disorders.

Mary Langevin RN, CNP-family nurse practitioner, earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a staff nurse at Children's working on the inpatient hematology/oncology unit for 12 years before joining the clinic staff as a provider in June of 2007. Mary's interests include integrative medicine, nutrition, and late effects of cancer treatments. She holds certifications as a pediatric oncology nurse and in holistic nursing.

Mylynda Livingston RN, CNP – Pediatrics, received her undergraduate nursing degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and her master's degree from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. She began working at Children’s as a registered nurse in hematology/oncology in 2003 and became a pediatric nurse practitioner in 2006. Her interests include leukemia, general oncology, and patient education.

Linda Madsen, RN, CNP – Pediatrics, earned her nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and earned her graduate degree from the University of Colorado in Denver. She joined the Children’s hematology/oncology program in 1993. Linda's interests include neuro-oncology, adolescent issues, patient education, and informatics.

Nancy McAllister, MD, attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her pediatric residency at Columbus Children’s Hospital. She was a pediatrician for three years in Boise, Idaho before completing her hematology/oncology fellowship at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. After two years of managing their sarcoma service, she joined the Children’s hematology/oncology program in 2006. Her areas of interest include management of head and neck cancers, and sarcomas. She works with James Sidman, MD and Patsa H. Sullivan, MD in managing head and neck cancers through Children’s head and neck cancers program.

Yoav Messinger, MD, attended medical school at Tel Aviv University in Israel and trained in general pediatrics at the Golda Medical Center in Israel. He completed his pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University . Dr. Messinger joined the hematology/oncology program at Children’s in 2000. His interests include medical informatics and its application to oncology.

Kristin Moquist, RN, CNP – Pediatrics, attended nursing school at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and received her master's degree at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. Kristin began working as a registered nurse at Children’s in 1997 and became a nurse practitioner in the hematology/oncology program in 2001. Her interests include sickle cell anemia, leukemia, and integrative medicine.

Stephen Nelson, MD, attended medical school and completed his pediatric residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. His pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship was completed at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Nelson joined the hematology/oncology program at Children’s in 1993. His interests include caring for patients with hemoglobinopathies and other blood disorders.

Dawn Niess, RN, CNP – Pediatrics, completed her undergraduate nursing degree at Bethel College in St. Paul and graduate degree at the University . Dawn joined the hematology/oncology program at Children’s in 1998. Her interests include stem cell and general oncology.

Joanna Perkins, MD, attended medical school at the University of Minnesota where she also completed her pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship. Dr. Perkins also received a master's degree from the University in clinical research. She joined the Children’s hematology/oncology program in 2003. Her areas of interest are leukemia, lymphoma, and the long-term effects of treatment for childhood cancer.

Heather Quammen, RN, CNP - Pediatrics, received her nursing degree and master's degree from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. Heather began working at Children’s as a registered nurse in 1995 and joined the hematology/oncology program as a nurse practitioner in 2002. Her areas of interest include leukemia, end-of-life care and bereavement, and pain management.

Lori Ranney, RN, CNP - Pediatrics, earned her nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and earned her graduate degree from the University . She joined the Children’s hematology/oncology program in 2008. Lori’s interests include solid tumors, adolescent issues, patient education, and pain management.

Jawhar Rawwas, MD, attended medical school at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He completed his pediatric residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York. His pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship was completed at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Rawwas joined Children's hematology/oncology program in April 2006. His interests include neuroblastoma, soft tissue sarcomas, and thrombotic disorders.

Michael Richards, MD, PhD, received his medical degree and doctorate of philosophy in biological chemistry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Richards completed his pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He joined the hematology/oncology program at Children’s in 2003. Dr. Richards has an interest in bone marrow transplantation, high-risk neuroblastoma, and general hematology/oncology.

Angela Robbins, RN, CNP – Pediatrics received her nursing degree from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul and her graduate degree from the University of Minnesota. She previously worked as a registered nurse at Children’s and joined the hematology/oncology program in 2005. Her interests include adolescent health, sickle-cell disease, and leukemia.

Vicki Schaefers, RN, CNP – Pediatrics, attended nursing school at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, and received her graduate degree from the University of Minnesota. She began working as a registered nurse at Children’s in 1989 and joined the hematology/oncology program as a nurse practitioner in 1998. Her area of interest is the long-term effects of treatment for childhood cancer.

Susan Sencer, MD, attended medical school at the University of Minnesota where she also completed her pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship training. She joined the hematology/oncology program at Children’s in 1991. Her areas of interest include oncology, supportive care of children with cancer, and integrative medicine.

David Slomiany, MD, attended medical school and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota. He completed his pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children's National Medical Center, George Washington University in Washington D.C. Dr. Slomiany joined the Children’s hematology/oncology program in 1998. His areas of interest include hemostasis, thrombosis, hemoglobinopathies, and the care of adolescents with cancer.

Clark Smith II, MD, attended medical school and completed his pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He joined the hematology/oncology program at Children’s in 1995. His interests include benign hematological disease, coagulation, thrombosis, and blood biomaterial interactions.

Amy Wein, RN, CNP – Pediatrics, completed her nursing degree at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and received her master's degree at the University of Colorado in Denver.
