Neuropsychology and Psychology at Children’s
Cancer, blood disorders, and treatment for these conditions can affect memory, learning, social development, and interaction. At Children’s, neuropsychologists work with patients, parents, and teachers to help maximize intellectual potential and school success. Neuro-psychologists evaluate each child with comprehensive testing and develop strategies for school-based and home-based learning.
Child psychology experts can help patients and other family members cope with the stressful experience of a serious childhood/adolescent illness. Treatment may be brief or ongoing as needed. Therapeutic interventions during or after treatment can address:
- Mood changes like depression or anger
- Self-image issues
- Behavioral changes
- Anxiety
- Trauma reactions
Services are offered on both the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, with some services available at Woodwinds in Woodbury and Children’s West in Minnetonka.
