What is a Children's Advocacy Center?
A Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-focused, community-oriented, facility-based program in which representatives from many disciplines meet to discuss and make decisions about investigation, treatment and prosecution of child abuse cases. They also work to prevent further victimization of children.  Core components of a CAC include: child-friendly facility, organizational capability, cultural competency and diversity, multi-disciplinary team, forensic interviews, medical evaluation, therapeutic intervention, victim support/advocacy, case review and case tracking.

What is the Midwest Regional Children's Advocacy Center?
The Midwest Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (MRCAC) is one of four regional centers in the country, established by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The MRCAC provides information, consultation, training and technical assistance, helping to establish child-focused programs that facilitate and support coordination among agencies responding to child abuse. They also provide services to CACs already in existence. The MRCAC represents twelve states including: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.  Learn more in the About section.

What is the National Children's Alliance?
The National Children’s Alliance is a not-for-profit membership organization of Children’s Advocacy Centers, child advocacy programs and individuals. Primary funding for the NCA comes from the Office of Juvenil Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).  Link to the National Children's Alliance online.

What is the organizational structure of MRCAC?
The MRCAC is comprised of an Executive Director, a Project Director, an Outreach Coordinator, an Administrative Assistant and a Special Projects Coordinator. It is located within the Midwest Children’s Resource Center Children’s Advocacy Center in St. Paul, MN.  Link to staff contact information.

What is a Multidisciplinary Team?a
A multi-disciplinary team (MDT): a multi-disciplinary team is comprises of the following disciplines: law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy as well as representation from the children’s advocacy staff.
