Medical Training Academy

Medical training academy is specifically designed for health care providers who have the responsibility for providing the medical evaluation for children who are suspected victims of child abuse.
This training is appropriate for physicians, nurse practitioners, SANE nurses, or other registered nurses with advanced training and physician assistants.

This training is not intended for nurses or other health care providers whose role is to ASSIST an examiner.

COST: $700

Basic Training Academy:
Basic training is designed for health care providers who:
1) Have < 3 years experience
2) <300 exams completed
Topics covered in Basic Academy:
- role of the medical provider
- evaluation and diagnostic approach of child physical and sexual abuse
- documentation and interpretation of findings
- expert testimony
- use of technology, networking and multi-disciplinary team development

Advanced Training Academy:
Advanced training is designed for health care provider who:
1) Have >3+ years experience
2) >300 exams completed
Topics covered in Advanced Academy:
- role of the medical provider
- funding the medical evaluation
- collaboration in the medical community
- evaluation and diagnostic approach of child physical and sexual abuse
- documentation and interpretation of findings
- diagnostic dilemmas
- testifying as the medical expert
- use of technology, networking second opinion and multi-disciplinary team development
